Christmas 2020 was simply different than the years before. I guess you know what I mean....
Since I didn't want to do any online shopping during that time (the parcel services had enough to do without my orders) and generally wanted to keep purchases to a minimum, I had to get creative with the Christmas gifts for my family.
Today I tell you what I gifted my family. Maybe my ideas are able to inspire you too.
My mother got her own website, created with the help of Wix.
My nieces and brother-in-law something they painted themselves (Nightmare before Christmas bookmark, drawing and sticker of a pink unicorn, and a Christmas watercolor painting of their own cat).
My sister got this small bottle with some sand and mini shells of a special beach.
For my other sister I made Christmas tree ornaments in matching colors (white, red and gold) from ceramic clay.
This ceramic clay (Keramiton) feels similar to usual clay, but does not need to be fired.
I used cookie molds to cut out the shapes of the ornamets. The molds can be cleaned with a litte water and soap after use. As long as the clay is not dried, it dissolves very well with a little water.
I put the eyebolts into the wet clay and then let the ornaments dry overnight.
The next day I fired them for a few minutes at 150°C in the oven,
Now the christmas ornaments are ready to be decorated. The red and gold acrylic paint goes wonderfully with the white ceramic clay. Some glitter in the wet paint and the chrismtas ornaments shine even more.
I put some Christmas ball hanger decorated with some beautiful beads on the ornaments so my sister can hang them on the Christmas tree easily. Of course, you could also use a nice gift ribbon for this.
If I hadn't finished everything at the last moment, I would have sealed the jewelry with matte lacquer paint - just to be on the safe side.
